Selling by Owner does not mean getting Ripped Off
When it comes to selling by owner, the first thing on your mind is probably getting a good deal. But with that being said, you are probably a bit scared about getting ripped off. After all, there are many horror stories out there about sellers who thought they were making a good deal, but find out differently in the long run. This is something that you are going to want to avoid at all costs.
The best way to avoid getting ripped off is to know what you are doing at all times. The second that you run into a situation that you are not comfortable with is when you need to step off and reevaluate your situation. Remember, when you do something because you feel pressured there is a good chance that you will make a mistake. Since you are in charge, there is no reason that you should feel rushed. Even if a potential buyer is trying to push you along, take the time to get everything straight before you move forward.
If thoughts of getting taken are too much for you to handle, selling by owner may not be right for you. You may be the type who is better off using a real estate agent in order to make the deal happen. This means that you will not make as much money because you will have to pay a commission, but at the same time you have a much better chance of getting a good deal.
All in all, there is no reason to think that selling by owner means that you might get ripped off. If you know what you are doing at all times there is no chance that you will make a bad deal. And if you are worried about this anyway, why not hire a real estate agent? This can help to take all of the guesswork and stress out of the selling process. This is much better than having to live your life in fear of losing out big time when you finally make a sale. As long as you are on top of things, the chances of getting played for a fool are next to none!
